Effective coaches are an accumulation of productive actions that they take that are in the best interest of their gymnasts.

There are many things that make you an effective coach, but the hallmark quality of the most effective coach is usually seen in their excellence and acuity for decision making for each individual they are coaching. Although there is no one single entity that makes a coach effective, an accumulation of productive qualities usually does the trick. The following is a brief listing of qualities that are found in an effective coaching style.

Committed

Good listeners

Disciplined and have integrity

Good Motivators (instilling self-belief in each gymnast)

Encourage personal performance goals, not outcome goals.

Effective Communicators
Acknowledge Success
Treat their gymnasts fairly but not necessarily equally

Know the sport well and educated themselves on current techniques and skills

Have fun with their gymnasts

Set realistic goals with their gymnasts
Fit skills to the ability of the gymnast as opposed to all skills for all gymnasts
Plan practices constructively with intention of structure and quality

USA Elite Gymnastics follows the guideline set by the U.S.A.G. and U.S.A.I.G.C. for teaching skill progression. Our policy is that to master a skill, no matter how simple, requires 100 correct repetitions.

To Classroom Parents:

As of June 1st, 2008, USA Elite Gymnastics will be modifying their fees and would like to inform everyone of that change. Monthly enrollment fees will increase by $5 per month per child, and a $25 annual membership fee will be assessed in order to remain competitive in our market. With the annual membership comes a FREE USAEG tee shirt for your child and a monthly newsletter.

Being the oldest gym and having the most qualified coaching staff in Modesto, we are also, and will continue to be, the most affordable gym in Modesto. We value our families and our students and we thank you for your ongoing patronage.

When making your check out for your monthly tuition, please reference your child's name in the memo. This will help the office staff post your payment correctly.

If your child is unable to attend class, you MUST call the gym to schedule a make-up class.

Tuition is due on the 1st of the month or before the first class attended. A late fee of $10.00 will be due for payments received after the 10th of the month.

Bring a Friend to Gym!

Share the joy of gymnastics with your friends and family!

Receive 1/2 off your next month tuition when you refer a friend!

Discount is applied when they sign up for classes!

Welcome to all the New Families at USAEG who joined our program in April. The staff and coaches would like to say thank you for choosing USAEG!

As we approach our 27th year here in Modesto, I find myself in reflection of the years past. I find myself thinking about all the little faces with beautiful smiles, all the little feet running around, all the wonderful memories of success and hearing the bell ring, followed by a cheer, reminds me sometimes, this must be like Santa's workshop, but instead of building toys, we are shaping bodies and building strong minds.

Success is being true to ourselves. It is the miracle of discovering, but daring to make our dreams come true. Success comes in all different colors, shapes, sizes. And it is being satisfied with who we are, and making the most out of ourselves. It is always striving to be the best we can be. Success is not just waiting for things to come to us, but making the most of the opportunities that we have. It is working hard and being committed to the task at hand. Success is not just doing something but doing it right.

So, this is one of those rare moments in life when we find ourselves looking back on where we have been, while at the same time we look forward to the future. Behind us are precious memories of experiences that we will never forget, heartfelt emotions that will fade but never really disappear, and ideals that will change in form but remain in substance.

Ahead of us are new challenges and new goals they may seem mere shadows today, but they will one day be central to our lives. While it may seem a paradox to look backward and forward at the same time, the significance of any achievement exists in that very contradiction. Without our past, we cannot build a future, without the future, our past would have no opportunity to come into full bloom.

I need to thank Dennis & Carmella Wend, for without them we would not be here today.

To the USA Booster Club Board, William, Beth, Penny, Jennifer, Robin, Shannon and Nancy, you have made many little children's dreams come true.

To Stacy, Beth, Mary Jane and Rikki, you are the meaning of teamwork, thank you for the web site, newsletters and the great bulletin board.

To the USA staff, for without your help, the children would never be the great people that they have become.

To Lori, thank you for giving so much of your talent, your time, your laughter, your care in each child will be what they remember, because they need you to lead them to greatness.

And last to the parents and children -All of you from mommie and me to the National Team, we are here because of you. You have made USA Elite a unique program. A program like no other, and that will be with us forever.

Sincerely,
~Jim Trost
